To be a thoughtful, professional fiduciary and investor while executing a high-yield investment strategy with institutional quality real estate in primary North American markets.
Alcion’s principals are cycle-tested professionals with over 85 years of combined experience in the fund management business.
Founding partners Martin Zieff and Mark Potter executed a broad investment mandate on behalf of a series of funds during their combined 28 years of experience at AEW Capital Management. In 2008, David Ferrero, formerly of Harvard Management Company entities, and Eugene DelFavero, formerly of RJ Gold & Co, joined Alcion Ventures to significantly expand the firm's senior management capabilities and enhance its ability to take advantage of emerging market opportunities.
Alcion Real Estate Fund I was formed in 2005 with nearly $350 million of equity commitments from a select group of endowments and institutional investors.
Alcion Real Estate Fund II was formed in 2010 with nearly $500 million of equity commitments from a diversified investor base, including major pension funds, endowments, foundations, family offices, and high-net worth individuals from the United States, Canada and Europe.
Alcion will pursue investments in select markets in which the principals have longstanding experience. These markets will possess the requisite elements for sustained value creation, including, but not limited to: (i) stable/positive economic and demographic characteristics (jobs and consumption); (ii) multiple demand drivers from a variety of sources; (iii) market inefficiencies; and (iv) constraints on supply that foster pricing power.
